Tanshui Ancient Village recently attracted a group of Taiwan artists to make outdoor art equipment for the coming Fengdong Art Festival.

Wind is a natural resource in Pingtan. The seeds of arts will flourish here.

Tanshui Village was located in the northeast Pingtan, to the south of Junshan, which is the highest mountain in Pingtan. Also it's to the west of Changjiangao. The beautiful coastline, the beach, the harbour and wind farms can be seen there.

The beautiful village recently attracted a group of Taiwan artists to make outdoor art equipment for the coming Fengdong Art Festival.

The Fengdong Art Festival will introduce outdoor art equipment to enhance the indoor exhibitions, exhibiting different kinds of art works to transmit the dream of flight.

Flight Hall: express the dream of flight

From ancient times, people had been dreaming to fly like a bird. So did Leonardo da Vinci, the author ofMona Lisa. He designed an aircraft draft in accordance with the conception of bird flying machine which is still exhibited in the museum. The Fengdong Art Festival set a flight hall to express the dream of flight.

The Taiwan artist, Qiu Xianzhang who is responsible for design introduced that they made an ornithopter, imitating the design of Vinci. People could lie on the plane and take photos with it.

Human beings have the dream of flying on the sky. The first airplane of a child may be a paper plane.

In the flight hall which is ready to complete, we saw varieties of paper planes. Some are traditional paper planes, some are like birds flying in the sky, others are like real plane models. These paper planes are parts of works of 3000 paper planes made by a Taiwan artist.

Fengdong means taking something flying with the power of wind.

Except for paper planes, there are 15 wooden works of art themed Fengdong. When the power was forced on works of art, they can fly like birds with propellers.

Attract artists to come to Tanshui

Qiu Xianzhang said, “we can change Tanshui Village into an art village, attracting some artists to come here. The landscape is pretty good. It’s suitable for artists to create something. Artists could enter workshops to make some art equipment.”

The windmill on the withered tree

“The earth is born with vivid and natural scenery which makes Tanshui Village more lively.”Qiu Yinglie introduced more materials relevant to the nature instead of manual works, for instance, bamboos, decayed woods which belong to the earth.

Taiwan artists would make four 1.8-meter long lanterns, symbolizing the seeds of art well nourished and flourished.

Lantern is a symbol of hope and seed is a concept of sprout. The lanterns we made symbolize that Tanshui Village will be prosperous like brilliant flowers and sparkling diamonds.
