Pingtan Archaeological Training Base of Xiamen University established

Pingtan Archaeology Training Base of Xiamen University had been established successfully in the International Austronesian Archaeological Study Base, Shangpan Village.

After a large number of archaeological surveys and explorations, the archaeology of Pingtan has reached a breakthrough in recent years. The Keqiutou Site which stands for the early culture of the Neolithhic Age in Fujian and Taiwan areas is an important archaeological discovery connected with Maritime Civilization in China. The Mount Gui Site was also found in Pingtan which proves to be a part of settlement sites of Grand Bronze Age. These discoveries are of great significance on the archaeological study of Pingtan.

Xiamen University, one of the key comprehensive universities that first set Archaeology, its qualified teachers and archaeological study experiences have a positive effect on the development of Archaeology of Pingtan.

In order to build the archaeological communication platform as soon as possible, the International Austronesian Archaeological Study Base is under construction tightly. When the project finishes, the International Austronesian Cultural Communication will be proceeded. Meanwhile, preservation of cultural relics, scientific research and cultural tourism will be implemented to bulid the cultural tourism brand of Pingtan.
