According to Wei Qinggui, a deputy director from Pingtan CPZ Urban Landscape Co., Ltd, the bougainvilleas introduced to Pingtan have rich colours. "The flowers are suitable to be planted on main roads, for its bright red bud gives off a carefree and warm feeling. Until now, we have introduced scores of bougainvilleas to the island," said Wei happily.

While enriching the colours of flowers, technicians also made great efforts in the modelling of the bougainvillea. "Generally, the modelling for ordinary trees requires clips in the late period of its growth. But bougainvillea has its own featured species, which is shaped in line with its stump model and has been largely imported intoPingtan this year.

The species is also called "stump bonsai", an art demonstrating the elegance and beauty of nature. It is often divided into three kinds, including single, double or artistic ones. Most of the plants brought in by Pingtan are almost the last kind.
