The talk will be given by Liu Xiaogan, a world -renowned scholar in Taoism.
Lecturer Profile
Liu Xiaogan, a world-renowned scholar in Taoism and PhD of Peking University, has been accredited as “a backbone in China’s philosophy circle”. He is currently a Specially-Appointed Professor of Beijing Normal University and Director of the Taoism and Chinese Cultural Thoughts Research Center. He served as a Professor at Peking University, the National University of Singapore, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and a Visiting Scholar and Lecturer at Harvard University, Princeton University, and the University of Michigan.
Coming from an academic background with Chinese and Western Cultures , Liu shows unique insights into Lao-Zhuang philosophy and typical thoughts on important issues of Chinese and Western cultures. Liu devoted himself to Lao-Zhuang philosophy for decades and spent more than ten years completing his book “Lao Zi Philosophy in Ancient and Modern Times”, which receives much acclaim from his counterparts. Yu Yingshi, another famed philosopher, thinks highly of“‘Lao Zi Philosophy in Ancient and Modern Times’as a new height to Taoism research.”
