Pingtan to hold the 6th Cross-Straits Sinology Lecture

The 6th Cross-Straits Sinology Lecture will be held on December 5, at 19:00 in Block 34, Taiwan Innovation Park of Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone (PCPZ). An interesting topic on "Confucian 'Spirituality': Humans can broaden the Way, Sages can continue and carry out the working of Tian" presented by Prof. Roger T. Ames from Peking University.

Roger T. Ames, an internationally renowned Sinologist, is a leading figure in the Chinese and Western comparative philosophy. Currently, as a professor of humanities from the Philosophy Department of Peking University, he is reputed as both the "Communicator and Interpreter of Chinese culture."

Roger T. Ames once has served as a professor of philosophy at the University of Hawaii, Director of the China Research Center at the University of Hawaii, a guest professor of the Department of Philosophy at the University of Taiwan, a visiting scholar at the University of Cambridge.

He devotes himself to the study of Confucianism, bringing this profound ideology out of Chinatown, and has translated many classical works of Chinese philosophies, making great contributions to the passing on of the Chinese legacy and promotion of exemplary Chinese traditional cultures. He won the Confucius Culture Award from the 6th World Confucianism Conference in 2013 and the 2nd Huilin Culture Award in 2016.
