Many women in Shilan, a small town in Hunan province, are becoming embroiderers with support from the local government.

During the 2018 Cultural and Natural Heritage Day, the heritage was brought to the "Splendid China: China Intangible Cultural Heritage Fashion Show" by designer Wang Xiaolin, held at Prince Kung's Mansion in Beijing in June.

Over the past two years, Wang and her team looked for and collected Miao embroidered pieces in Hunan, digging out many traditional embroidery crafts that were nearly lost.
