Born in 1955, Huang Qianghua is the fourth generation heir of the Yunlin Puppet Show family in Taiwan. He is also the chairman of Pili International Multimedia Co Ltd.

"The puppet show is a part of Chinese culture. I want to make it strong." Driven by this ideal, Huang Wen renamed "Huang Qianghua" and began to inherit and promote his own puppet show when he was 26.

However, in the 1990s, due to the rapid development of diversified entertainment industry, the traditional cloth-bag theatre lost its appeal and novelty, and the performance became stilted, which made puppet show lose its market share.

Huang Qianghua, who took over from his father, began to think about changes. He added a large number of special film effects into the show. He painted a brilliant picture based on traditional Chinese culture, including Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism.

Today, Huang Qianghua's Pili Puppet Show has three studios spread over more than 30,000 square meters in Yunlin. He has imported a large number of Hollywood film techniques and used computer animation and digital audio production to make the image, sound and light effects more attractive.

"We must pass on our culture to younger generations. In order to be loved by young people, we must adopt the way of young people." Huang Qianghua said that if we had a clear goal, we would know what kind of content and nutrients we needed to release.

"The reason why puppet show is popular is that it has cultural connotations and emotions, complicated plots, exquisite depictions of characters, aesthetic modeling and impressive visual presentation," Huang Qianghua said.

Huang Qianghua is working to train more operatives who can perform live performances, and hopes to have more opportunities to cooperate with mainland art groups in the future to show the beauty of puppet show.

"We will spare no effort to inherit the traditional Chinese culture and show its charm to the world." Huang Qianghua said the puppet show was his lifelong career.
