Pingtan Austronesian Museum releases its conceptual design
Pingtan Times | Updated:2019-01-08Pingtan Tourism Group Co. Ltd has revealed in a press release recently that the construction of Keqiutou Archaeological Park is currently under way, and as an important part of it, the Austronesian Museum has finalized its conceptual design.
The conceptual design of the Austronesian Museum
Keqiutou Archaeological Park consists of six functional zones including an Austronesian folk culture village, a core site exhibition area, an international Austronesian cultural exchange area, a public service center, and an archaeological experience area. The Austronesian Museum will be built in the international Austronesian cultural exchange area. Once completed, it will fully showcase the cultural development of the Austronesian culture by serving as a center of exhibition, collection, education and research for the Austronesian civilization.
Covering an area of 6,077 square meters, the museum will implant oceanic elements from the Austronesian cultures for its architectural style. Inspired by ocean waves, the building will be designed to have structures with various descending and ascending heights, and its walls will be decorated with recycled lattice to give it a dated and retro feel, which is similar with the old relics displayed.
Apart from its educational purpose, the museum is also an important window to bridge the public to the Austronesian cultures. Designed with energy saving and water conserving systems, the museum is moving on towards a green space within its compounds. The concept of "Sponge City" will also be adopted in the future to mitigate water wastage.
