Pingtan's Nostalgia: Preserving the memory of the past

The exterior of Shi Tianzhang’s former residence. As a typical Qing Dynasty ancient residence that nestled within the vintage looking facade of Pingtan's old street, Shikezhizhai looks unassumingly ordinary. Though we know little about the residence, this used to be the place where the once famous Confucian Shi Tianzhang gave his lectures. Shi Tianzhang was a great contributor to Pingtan's education, literature, history and especially in the founding of this humble lecture hall for his prelection, Shikezhizhai.

Some of these places are Donglou Palace in Songcuo Village, Liushui Town and Yang's ancestral temple in Pingyuan Town. These places have been restored by the locals in an effort to preserve a once glorious past and nostalgia that has been swept by the vicissitude of modernity.
