Festive Chunlian heightens up the New Year spirit for cross-Straits youths in Loutaihui

"Loutaihui" implies an encounter of Pingtan's Shanglou Village and Taiwan. Pingtan, being the closest place on the Chinese mainland to Taiwan, naturally embodies a rich and integrative culture of Pingtan and Taiwan. And "Loutaihui" is the "melting pot" where young locals and Taiwan youths gather to share their culture and ideas. "Pasting couplets is a tradition in which Chinese people express the joy of the lunar new year and wishes for the coming year," said a local calligrapher who guided Huang Jintian, a local schoolboy to write the Chinese character “福” which means happiness.
