The 2019 Cross-Straits Youth Guoxue Study Camp kicked off on April 15 in Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, Chinese mainland’s closest neighbor of Taiwan.
Youths from across the Taiwan Straits learned about the traditional Chinese etiquette. Guoxue, Tai Ji and calligraphy, among others are scheduled to be experienced. They will also tour iconic places of Pingtan such as International Research Center for Austronesian Archaeology, Haitan Ancient Town and Aoqian Taiwan-themed Town.
“Headquartered in Pingtan, the Cross-Straits Center of Guoxue will set up a base inviting youths across the Taiwan Straits for the study of the traditional Chinese culture, ” said the person in charge of the activity. At present, the study camp has been held regularly in Pingtan.
Hu Boyao, a sophomore from Kao Yuan University of Taiwan, traveled all the way across the Taiwan Straits for the sole purpose of joining the camp and fulfilled his interest in Confucianism. "We also learned some traditional culture in school. I hope to meet some new friends and broaden my knowledge in the fields of the traditional Chinese culture".
“I learned about Taiji-to-Eight Diagrams evolution and the traditional Chinese culture. It is very interesting to attend classes with Taiwan compatriots, ” said Zhang Yuying, a student from Fujian Polytechnic of Information Technology.
