Pingtan’s Cross-Straits Center of Guoxue (CSCG) is officially inaugurated as one of the 12 bases for cultural exchange between Fujian and Taiwan, according to sources from the Taiwan Affairs Office of Pingtan, the closest place on the Chinese mainland to Taiwan.
Guoxue is loosely defined as the study of ancient Chinese civilization - specifically, such realms as history, philosophy, literature and art.
Since being approved as a comprehensive pilot zone, Pingtan has been making every effort to promote in-depth exchange, cooperation and integration across the Taiwan Straits. CSCG, established in 2018, aims to help build a shared spiritual homeland for people on both sides of the Taiwan Straits by making good use of the fine traditional Chinese culture.

Over the past year, CSCG has been hosting Guoxue-related activities including forums, open courses and study camps, which have far-reaching influences among the Guoxue circle and on youths across the Taiwan Straits.
Other 11 establishments including Quanzhou Shaolin Temple and Minnan Normal University in south Fujian’s Zhangzhou City are among the approved.
