Haitan No. 2, a cruise ship, is expected to be launched on June 16 before cruising the southeast China’s Pingtan Island on a regular basis.
The State Council of China approved a plan to build Pingtan into an international tourism island in 2016. The move came after the plan proposed building two sightseeing rings on land and at sea.
The Haitan No.2 is a late-model cruise ship. The hull is a three-deck structure with deluxe, VIP and karaoke cabins, and 169 passenger seats. It is equipped with top-notch facilities such as an immersive holographic projection hall, a multi-functional reception area, multimedia entertainment systems, and massage armchairs.
"There will be two cruise ships by year end. The first one is Haitan No. 2, and the other Haitan No. 1 will come in the second half of the year. There will be 4 by 2022 according to market demands," said Chen Liang, chairman of Fujian Pingtan Sightseeing Cruise Co., Ltd.
