Pingtan, Chinese mainland’s closest neighbor of Taiwan, is expected to host the 2020 IM Cross-Straits Youth Film Exhibition in October, according to the Pingtan Movie Service Center.
So far, film solicitation has ended, and a total of 1,195 works from 276 colleges and universities have been submitted, including those from Beijing Film Academy, Communication University of China, Taipei University of the Arts, Fujian Normal University, Chapman University, New York University, and California Institute of the Arts.
According to the organizer, IM is the abbreviation of "In Moments", which means "from this moment". The exhibition aims to give support to young filmmakers on both sides of the Taiwan Straits.
At the film fest, 30 outstanding works will be shortlisted, along with 1 nominee for “2020’s Aspiring Filmmaker” award. A masterclass for film directors, youth documentary forum, beach screening, etc will also be held alongside.
This event is co-sponsored by Fujian Radio and Television Bureau, Fujian Film Bureau, Fujian Radio, Film and Television Group, and the Administrative Committee of Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone.
