“Taipei Express”, a freighter shuttling regularly between Pingtan and Taiwan, increased the number of voyage to four in a week, starting from Oct.12. The move came after the continuous influx of cross-border e-commerce exports in Pingtan, Chinese mainland’s closest neighbor of Taiwan.

According to reports, the "Taipei Express" only takes 5.5 hours from Pingtan to Taipei. It is currently the largest tonnage high-speed cargo ro-ro ship entering Pingtan Port.

The rapid growth of cross-border e-commerce exports benefited from the added facilities such as customs supervision sites and consolidation warehouses in recent years.

The import and export value of Pingtan stood at 6.9 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.2%. Among them, the exports were valued at 2.5 billion yuan, an increase of 7.6%.
