The two-day third Cross-Straits Guoxue Forum wrapped up on Nov. 1 at the Cross-Straits Center of Guoxue headquartered in Pingtan, Chinese mainland’s closest neighbor of Taiwan.

Dozens of experts and scholars weighed in on topics such as "Man and Nature from the Perspective of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism" at the forum. The "academic collision" helped deepen the understanding of Chinese culture and also reinforces what it has long stood for- a common spiritual homeland for people from both sides of the Taiwan Straits.

She said that the talks among the participating scholars profoundly clarified the fundamental attitudes and core concepts of the relationship between man and nature in Chinese culture, which closely reflects current reality. With the outbreak of Covid-19, people have realized the importance of building a community with a shared future for mankind. China's adherence to people-centered philosophy and institutional advantages of socialism with Chinese characteristics have provided an effective solution for the Chinese nation to subdue the pandemic. It also gave us a deep understanding of the core values of Chinese culture and demonstrated the unique advantages of Chinese civilization.

This forum brought together more than a dozen young scholars from Taiwan who are studying and teaching on the mainland and two young foreign scholars.

After the forum ended, the Research Base for Excellent Traditional Chinese Culture has also been inaugurated and put into operation. An academic seminar on the research base was also held on the sideline of the forum.
