Since its launch in October 2020, the competition has solicited over 700 entries. The works are judged by a panel based on three key criteria: creativity, cultural connotation, and industrial value.

“Is this for sale? I would like to buy a pair now.” Chic exhibits like canvas shoes, “Sea Sparkle” scarves, and luminous mobile phone cases were popular among young people at the exhibition area for voguish icons of Pingtan.

The exhibits will be selected into a product library, serving as a backup for gifts and souvenirs for tourists. The organizer stated that Pingtan will continue the event and join hands with design talents on both sides of the Taiwan Straits to produce iterable and commercialized Pingtan IP derivatives.

This cultural and creative competition, part of the third Cross-Straits Guoxue Forum, was co-sponsored by the Tourism, Culture and Sports Bureau, and the Convergence Media of Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone.
