Fancy a Big Mac or Happy Meal with a view? Mark your calendar! Because Pingtan is welcoming the opening of its first MacDonald’s franchise in mid-June this year. This isn’t your average MacDonald’s. Located at Longwangtou, one of the largest natural bathing beaches in China, the restaurant is probably going to provide the best dining experience with a view.

MacDonald’s is very specific to their store location. “We brought our partner to several local attractions on the island, but once they set eyes on Longwangtou, everything else was history,”said Lin Yuchuan, deputy general manager of the Pingtan Tourism Group. Lin added that McDonald’s places a high expectation on the bright prospects of Pingtan as a pilot zone for promoting cross-Straits integration as well as the second island designated to build into an international tourist destination in China behind Hainan.

Positioned as the restaurant closest to the sea in China, Pingtan’s MacDonald’s drive-through is specially designed according to the characteristics of Pingtan International Tourism Island.

McDonald's is an international fast food chain with nearly 38,000 restaurants worldwide and more than 68 million customers served every day. McDonald's entered the Chinese mainland in 1990. Today, China is the second largest and fastest growing market for the world-leading F&B franchise.
