Riding the train to view the coastal scenery of blue seas and quaint stone houses along the way is about to come true in Pingtan, a rising international tourism island in China. Reporters learnt from the Investment Promotion and Industry Promotion Center of Pingtan on April 29 that Pingtan will introduce the country’s first coastal sightseeing tram, running from Longwangtou Bathing Beach and Beigang Cultural and Creative Village.

According to Wang Hubing, strategic investment consultant of Zhuzhou CRRC Special Equipment Technology Co, the investor of the project, the company’s tourism transportation products have been in operation in 30 star-rated tourist attractions and theme parks across the country. Pingtan is chosen due to its impressive and unique coastal landscapes. With this, it is hoped to provide local and international tourists with an immersive road trip.

The tramline spans about 7.9 kilometers with a designed speed of 30 kph and two stops in between. “It’s expected to be put into run in one year, and we plan to hire foreign personnel as tramcar attendants,” said Wang Hubing.
