Netizens were given a sneak peek of the Island’s Keeper, a highly anticipated production shot in Pingtan International Tourism Island. The film will be released nationwide on June 18. As the first film set in the Pingtan Zhuyu Bay Film and Television Base, the film is directed by Chen Li and produced by August First Film Studio, a state-owned production studio dedicated to military genres.

According to sources, Liu Ye, a veteran Chinese actor and Cong Zhe, a newcomer and also a winner of the 7th Chinese Film Media Award will be the lead in the production.

The film tells a touching biography of a militia sentry stationed on an unhabituated island for 32 years. The film also talks about one man’s fight against nature, loneliness, most importantly against all odds to fulfill his duty for his nation.
