Pingtan boasts unparalleled location advantage of being the closest place on the Chinese mainland to the island of Taiwan- 68 nautical miles. Its shipping routes cover Taipei, Taichung and Tainan, shuttling between the two islands every day. It only takes 2.5 hours to reach Taiwan at the fastest. Pingtan has become the main channel to Taiwan on the mainland.
“Pingtan ranked first in the bonded imports of cross-border e-commerce in Fujian Province.” An official from the Administrative Committee said that Pingtan has built a dedicated industrial park with a total investment of approximately 1 billion yuan and a construction area of 150, 000 square meters.
E-commerce giants such as Amazon, Tmall Global, Pinduoduo, Xiaohongshu and Douyin have settled in the park. A warehouse for Cainiao, a logistic arm of Alibaba inside the complex sends out 20,000 parcels on average every day. The items are mostly cosmetics and toiletries from Japan and South Korea, and health products and foods from Australia.
Pingtan also set up a service center exclusive to Taiwan compatriots and businesses, providing one-stop service.
