Pingtan’s heritage performances greet 44th WHC session

Cultural heritage performances were staged at Tianmei’ao Art Station of the Tannan Bay scenic area of Pingtan, a rising international tourism island in China on July 29, in an effort to welcome the 44th session of the World Heritage Committee held in Fuzhou, the capital city of southeastern China’s Fujian province as well as demonstrate the charm of the intangible cultural heritage of Pingtan.
Cane Shield Exercise feasts tourists’ eyes
On the same day, Cane Shield Exercise and Ciming Opera were put on, receiving rounds of applause from the audience. Intangible cultural heritage items such as Pingtan Shell Carving, Sea Willow Carving, Lampbrella, Rice Paste Tea were on display, an eye-opener for visitors.

In addition, related DIY activities allowed citizens and visitors to enjoy themselves by learning about the production of the heritage treasures.
The activity was jointly hosted by the Tourism, Culture and Sports Bureau and the Service Center for Tourism and Culture of Pingtan.
