Pingtan, an island city off East China’s Fujian province, set up a pavilion at the 21st China International Fair for Investment and Trade(CIFIT) inaugurated in Xiamen, a coastal city in Fujian.

Themed “a window for cooperation between Fujian and Taiwan and China’s opening up to the outside world”, Pingtan Pavilion focuses on displaying its achievements made in recent years and attracting business investment by showcasing its potential, planning and targets.

"When I was busy with my garment export business outside, enormous changes have taken place back home. I'll probably start something new in Pingtan because I would like to contribute too.” Gao Li, chairman of Tanbei Group (Pingtan) Co., Ltd., said that Pingtan has been designated as a window for opening to the outside world. After years of development, the city has grown from an isolated island to a modern city full of opportunities, which boosted his confidence in investment.

Pingtan also uses the platform to visit old friends and make new ones. Lu Li, deputy director of the Investment Promotion and Industry Promotion Center of Pingtan, said that they visited entrepreneurs from Argentina, Brazil and other countries upon arriving. In addition, they also introduced business incentives to entrepreneurs from other cities.

Covering more than 100,000 square meters and with strict anti-epidemic measures in place, the four-day event has attracted more than 50,000 business people and over 5,000 companies from nearly 100 countries and regions, both online and offline.

Pingtan is vigorously building itself into an international tourist destination.
