Someday in the near future, electronic chips in your tech gadgets might bear a made-in-Pingtan label. At an integrated circuit (IC) cutting and quality control (QC) plant affiliated to Fengyuan Technology (Pingtan) Co., Ltd., a reporter from Pingtan CMC had just witnessed the operation and progress of the IC industry in Pingtan.

Fengyuan Technology (Pingtan), established in April 2020, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Taiwan-funded Zongren Technology (Pingtan) Co., Ltd.

“Due to the increase in orders, many clients hope that we can provide tested and cut wafer products in addition to design services,” said Chen Mengbang, chairman of Fengyuan Technology (Pingtan).

The establishment of testing, cutting, and picking plants has brought convenience to many companies and reduced the operating costs of IC design companies. "We have two IC design companies upstairs in our Fengyuan factory. The products they design can be directly handed over to us for testing," said Chen Mengbang.

Chen Mengbang from Taiwan, who came to Pingtan to start a business in 2015, witnessed the development of the IC industry from scratch to the initial establishment of an industrial chain system in Pingtan. Last year, Zongren Technology took in 50 million yuan in revenue. To expand the business, Chen Mengbang made additional investments this year.

The new plant settled in the Emerging Industrial Park of Pingtan. Chen stated outright, “The local government helped us rebuild the cleanroom. We only need to carry our bags to work. It is really considerate. In addition, we also enjoy the rent and talent subsidies in the park.”

Pingtan issued pilot measures to foster the development of the IC industry in January, 2019. Last year, Pingtan made changes and adjustment to pertinent policies for targeted assistance.
