Filming for the fantasy genre Adventure King: Python Island wrapped up in Pingtan, the closest place on the Chinese mainland to the island of Taiwan. The location is set at the iconic East China Sea Wonderland, Tannan Bay, Naizhai Stone Forest, and Zhuyu Bay Film and Television Base of Pingtan. It’s expected to premiere in theatres and on online streaming sites sometime during the upcoming Spring Festival.

"Adventure King is a film series. We are planning to come back next year to shoot the second installment. Pingtan has been working vigorously to step up its game in the film and television industry. And, we also find the island sceneries highly compatible with our film settings. We have two more upcoming works, and we have already set up our company in Pingtan," said Feng Yuan, executive producer of the film.  

Starting early this year, 30 crews including those from variety shows have been to Pingtan for photography. As of July, around 11 companies related to the industry have been established.

Ding Ruiwu, director of the Film and Television Division of the Publicity and Film Development Department of Pingtan,pointed out that all the credits go to the unparalleled tourist resources, policy supports, improved facilities, and considerate services in Pingtan. 

Synopsis

"Adventure King" Du Fei was invited by the beautiful Monica to an adventure at the legendary Python Island to find her missing father, Professor Mo. Fifteen years ago, Mo led a scientific expedition on the island and was never seen again. According to legend, the island was filled with many exotic plants and a legendary flower of immortality. However, a monster python looms on the island, waiting to devour anyone who comes in contact with the flower.

Feng Yuan said that the scenes in Pingtan like stone forests are fit for fantasy movies.

The group landed and soon found themselves attacked by a monster. They set up a trap and successfully captured the creature, but only to find the genetically mutated Professor Mo. It turned out the tale of immortality was no fairy tale after all! The flower would turn anyone who inhales it into a mutant! Then, the group set out on a mission to destroy the flower and rescue the world. As everything slowly unfolds, more troubles ensue. The group suddenly found themselves pitted against more troubles- a giant python and a giant orangutan, and scheming teammates with ulterior motives. Sit still as an epic battle between men against men, and men against beast unfolds!
