Chen Guoqiang: Awe-inspiring acupotomy therapist from Pingtan
en.ptnet.cn | Updated:2021-10-27Apart from cervical and lumbar spondylosis, acupotomy is an effective treatment for skin diseases, tumors, gynecological diseases, pediatric diseases, and other underlying medical conditions.
Chen Guoqiang from Pingtan, an island city off E China’s Fujian province, is an acupotomy specialist.
“Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is scientifically proven to help in the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases. I am trying my best to promote it to the world.”
Chen Guoqiang who is also the president of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Hospital of Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone was invited to the press conference of the China-Central and Eastern European Countries Traditional Medicine Forum held in Beijing in 2019, where he was appointed as the Deputy Secretary-General of the Organizing Committee of the Forum.
“I am feeling much better after Dr. Chen carried out a therapy on my knee. I am thankful to Dr.Chen,” said Wei Renyun, a patient from a village nearby.
Three months ago, he had difficulty walking, and an examination revealed that he suffered from knee joint degeneration. “An orthopedist advised me to do a bone replacement surgery. I heard that Dr. Chen’s acupotomy therapy is effective. So I came over in the hope of getting my knee fixed without surgery,” explained Wei.
"Now walking is no longer a problem, but to get a full recovery, you need to have a few more treatments," Chen Guoqiang said.
Chen Guoqiang introduced that acupotomy is a therapy that adjusts body meridians by removing adhesion with a combo of scalpels and acupuncture needles.
At the end of 2012, Chen happened to come across acupotomy. He was amazed at the immediate effect of the treatment. “I was watching a doctor performing the therapy on a patient. I was amazed how that patient who was supposed to have surgery for his trouble, gained immediate relief from the pain,” Chen Guoqiang said.
Since then he has been attached to it, diving into the study and visiting well-known specialists on weekends and holidays. Soon Chen mastered the essence of acupotomy, and attended to more patients. Many medics have come to Chen to learn acupotomy techniques.
Chen Guoqiang is keen on programs for public good. Since March 2016, he has been leading his team to conduct free treatments. Besides, Chen offers money for underprivileged patients.
Today, what worries Chen most is the issue of inheritance.
"I treat at most a dozen patients a day, and now I am about to retire. Although there are five disciples, but it is far from enough to pass on the technique. I hope that more people are willing to come to learn, I will teach them wholeheartedly, while guarding the people’s health, and inheriting the TCM technical skill," Chen Guoqiang said.
