Pingtan FTZ covers a total area of 43 square kilometers, and adopts "Electronic Fence" to monitor the three divisions, namely Port Economicand Trade Division of 16 square kilometers, High-tech Industrial Division of 15 square kilometers, and Tourism and Recreation Division of 12 square kilometers. As one of the three areas of China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone, Pingtan focuses on building a free port.
