Pingtan starts its efforts in building an international tourism island after Pingtan is named Pilot Free Trade Zonein 2015, and since then the island has seen expanding traffic network, rows of luxury hotels, and growing tourism choices. Pingtan now boasts a mix of duty-free shopping, cruise & yacht, island exploration, camping, and water sports to meet the diverse and customized demands of tourists from all parts of the world.
In the days to come, Pingtan’s tourism will form a pattern of "One Corridor, Two Rings, Five Districts, and Multi Bases"for a comprehensive development. Five districts are Tandong focusing on rural tourism, homestay hostels and seafood restaurants; Tanbei on Maritime Silk Road, water sports, amusementparks, and village resorts; Tourism Interaction on cultural & creative experience projects with Taiwan-Mainland cooperation; Nanhai Island Sightseeing on low-capacity oceanic tourism, recreational fishery, sea fishing, wild training, and other in-depth experience; and Tannan Bay Health Tourism on resort hotels, recreation and recuperationcomplexes, horsemanship, mountain sports, water sports, RV park, and resort community. This is how Pingtan will rise up as a global tourist destination.
