Cross-Straits Center of Guoxue
en.ptnet.cn | Updated:2021-12-10The Cross-Straits Center of Guoxue was inaugurated on April 23, 2018 in Pingtan, the closest place on the Chinese mainland to the island of Taiwan. Adhering to the mission of“to ordain conscience for Heaven and Earth; to secure life and fortune for the people; to continue lost teachings for past sages; to establish peace for all future generations", the center aims to create a "common homeland" with spiritual connectivity between both sides of the Taiwan Straits in the new era. Guoxue is loosely defined as the study of ancient Chinese civilization- specifically, such realms as history, philosophy, literature, and art.
The center has become an important base for in-depth exchanges of Chinese scholars and experts on both sides of the Straits. Up to now, it has held 3 high-profile forums, 4 seminars, and 2 dialogues in Pingtan, Beijing, Taipei, Wuhan, and others.The Cross-Straits Youth Guoxue Study Camp has taken place 8 times, attractingmore than 3,500 youths from across the Straits, including over 1,000 youngsters from Taiwan. 39 sessions of the Cross-Straits Guoxue Lecture have been carried out, attracting over 100 million netizens online. Other Guoxue activities such as classic readings, Guoxue 101 for campuses, Guoxue 101 for local communities, and Guoxue 101 for villages were held.
In the future, the Cross-Straits Center of Guoxue will continue to invite famous Chinese scholars and well-known institutions to settle in. The center will gradually form a tourism complex featuring “traditional Chinese culture”, making it go global.
