Pingtan hosts fourth Cross-Straits Guoxue Forum
en.ptnet.cn | Updated:2021-12-14The 4th Cross-Straits Guoxue Forum was held in the Cross-Straits Center of Guoxue based in Pingtan, Chinese mainland's closest neighbor of Taiwan. Themed "The Roots of Civilization Towards A Modern China," the forum weighed in on the cultural road which transpires modern China and its excellent traditional culture. Over 60 eminent scholars and experts joined the forum, offline and online. More than 9 million viewers tuned in to the livestream of the opening ceremony. Guoxue is loosely defined as the study of ancient Chinese civilization- specifically, such realms as history, philosophy, literature, and art.
Zhang Zhiqiang, director of the Institute of Philosophy of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Yuan Sha, vice-president of the Central Institute of Socialism, Zhang Yazhong, president of Sun Yat-Sen School of Taiwan, Zheng Dongyu, director of the Liaison Office of the Publicity Department of Fujian Province, and Chen Xunming, deputy director of the Administrative Committee of Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, respectively delivered speeches at the ceremony.
Chen expressed that more famous Chinese scholars from both sides of the Taiwan Straits will come to Pingtan and offer suggestions for the development of Pingtan through the Cross-Straits Center of Guoxue. The Chinese power behind its culture shall be harnessed to practice the great harmony of the world.
