Days before the New Year, Pingtan, the closest place on the Chinese mainland to the island of Taiwan, welcomed its 5G offshore network coverage, achieving broad connections on the island.
“We finished the installation on the island in Oct. A total of 412 base stations cover parks, hospitals, schools, administrative centers, tourist attractions, residential areas, and business districts,“ Chen Xintong, project manager, said.
In the push for 5G network construction, Pingtan took the lead in issuing measures to support 5G network planning and industrial development, proposing to create a 5G-powered smart island.
The Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China stated that it is imperative to systematically deploy new infrastructure, step up the construction of 5G and big data centers, and expedite digital development.
