The 13th Cross-Straits TV Hosting Rookie Show wrapped up on Dec. 25 in Pingtan, Chinese mainland’s closest neighbor of the island of Taiwan.

The 13th Cross-Straits TV Hosting Rookie Show wrapped up on Dec. 25 in Pingtan, Chinese mainland’s closest neighbor of the island of Taiwan. Zheng Jianmin, vice-governor of E. China’s Fujian province attended the event.

The contest brought close to 100 colleges and universities on both sides of the Straits to promote and carry forward the excellent traditional Chinese culture, creating a hosting talent pool, and enhancing mutual learning and common development of the media industry across the Straits. 

Contestants receive professional ratings and reviews from a panel of experts and reputed hosts from both sides of the Straits.

25 TV rookies from the mainland gathered to compete in Pingtan. Affected by the epidemic, three Taiwanese contestants joined via live video conference. The top three finalists- Geng Haoran, Kou Jiawei,and Zhou Lingni (Taiwan)- received a job offer from Fujian Radio, Film, and Television Group.

"Come to Pingtan to gaze at the starry sky in the ocean" "The stones here can sing" "When I came to Pingtan, I spotted skateboards and kites are connected"... In the two-hour program, the name “Pingtan” popped-up numerous times, especially in Pingtan’s endorsement segment. All the contestants sang praises and conducted a live endorsement for the tourism island.

"The series show has become an important window to showcase the development and progress of Pingtan and even Fujian as a whole. It is also an important platform for youth from both sides of the Straits to deepen exchanges," said Fan Zongchai, secretary general of China TV Artists Association.
