Island Keeper pockets Best Feature Film at 34th Golden Rooster Awards
en.ptnet.cn | Updated:2022-01-04More than 90 percent of the film Island Keeper shot in Pingtan bagged the Best Feature Film at the 34th China Golden Rooster Awards held on Dec. 30, 2021 in Xiamen, Fujian province. The film was premiered nationwide on June 18.
Previously on Dec. 12, the film won the Golden Silk Road Award for Best Actor (Liu Ye) and Best Actress (Gong Zhe) at the 8th Silk Road International Film Festival in Fuzhou.
Island Keeper is a tear-jerking movie based on a true story of Wang Jicai and his wife who devoted 32 years to guarding the border island of Kaishan in E China’s Jiangsu province.
Pingtan is the closest place on the Chinese mainland to the island of Taiwan en route to becoming a film and television base of repute.
Island Keeper is the first film set in Zhuyu Bay Film and Television Base of Pingtan.
To stay as close as possible to the events, the production team had reconstructed some of the film’s most iconic sets such as Wang’s storm shelter (an underground tunnel) , Kaishan Island’s auditorium, Wang’s dormitory, and hometown.
