Pingtan kicks off first ice game to cheer for 2022 Winter Olympics
en.ptnet.cn | Updated:2022-02-07Pingtan, the closest place on the Chinese mainland to the island of Taiwan, held the first ice sports for parent-child pleasure on the 3rd day of the Chinese New Year and in the run-up for the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, attracting 120 families. The activity highlights curling and ice hockey.
"Pingtan is located in the southern part of China, so there is rarely any chance for us to do winter sports. I took my kids over the Spring Festival holiday to join in the curling competition to flex their motor skills, broaden their experience, and enjoy some family bonding," said Lin Xuelong, a local citizen.
"Subsequently, we shall bring in winter sports into the local schools on the island, organize more games, and encourage more young people to get involved in the sport," said Zhang Zu'ai. Zhang is the president of Wanjufu (Fujian) Group Co., Ltd., a company engaged in R&D development, production, sales, and service of winter sports materials and equipments. The company has set up its subsidiary WaJoFu Ice-Snow Technology in Pingtan.
In addition, other experience programs such as e-sports hockey, basketball set shot, and football shot are also popular.
