Celebrating the New Year with cross-Straits folk customs

An array of colorful activities and entertainments lined up throughout the first few days of the Lunar New Year to keep visitors entertained.
The crackling sound of firecrackers ushered in the second day of the Lunar New Year, as a vibrant parade led by troupes of lion dance, performers in Hanfus, and cute cartoon characters charmed the crowd and brought the festive atmosphere to climax.
"It can show local characteristics and has a strong taste of local Spring Festival folk customs," said Li Jianqing, a tourist from Heilongjiang Province. Zhang Daihua, another tourist makes the same remarks and added that the show makes the holiday worthwhile.
Performer ZangQi who performed a folk dance,Seeing Off the King by Boat, said that the performance symbolizes luck and prosperity in the coming new year. While, Taiwan folk dance,Amis Love a cultural folk dance of Taiwan's ethnic group, expressed the warm hospitality of the Amis people.
"The local music sounds very intimate. The festival not only enhances visitors' experience but also provides a stage for Pingtan's local intangible cultural heritage, enriching cultural connotation," said tourist Wang Qingzhu from Fuzhou after watching Pingtan intangible cultural heritage "Paizhi music."
The carnival lasted for five days. A lantern festival show will also be held to recreate a modern and traditional combined atmosphere.
"A major fireworks show will take place during the Lantern Festival to create an immersive performance combined with Fujian and Taiwan traditional cultural elements," said Zhong Guangsen, the Marketing Director of Fujian Zhonghui Cultural Tourism Development co. ltd..
