Beijing-Taiwan Highway (Pingtan Service Area) starts construction

Beijing-Taiwan Expressway (Pingtan Service Area) project has started construction, according to the Beijing-Taiwan Expressway (Pingtan) Cross-sea Bridge Co., Ltd. on February 23.

Reportedly, the project estimated at 120 million yuan will take up 95.63 mu (6.375 hectares) plot of land on the left and 39.66 mu (2.643 hectares) on the right. The structure will be ready in 10 months.

Design with cross-Straits elements and local features will be incorporated into the landscape.

"The service area will become a display window for Pingtan's culture, tourism, and local signature products, providing quality services for passengers to rest along the way," said Chen Qiang, head of the project engineering department.

"As to its exterior, the service area will be veneered with local granite, embodying the architectural style of the local fishing village made up of stone houses," Chen Qiang added.
