E-healthcare system launched in Pingtan

Recently, Mr. Lin, a native of Pingtan Island- the closest place from the mainland to the island of Taiwan, became one of the first few to try out the newly launched electronic healthcare services. With the launch of the island's e-healthcare service, patients can make appointments, consultations, and even payments through the comfort of their mobile phones. "Scan the code and you'll be good to go. Super convenient," added Mr. Lin.

To date, all grassroots healthcare facilities across the island have gone digital. Not only did the initiative benefits the public, but it also brought down operation cost for hospitals and boosted efficiency.

Scanning QR-code for medical service

It is reported that the electronic medical insurance code has been implemented nationwide. The insured can obtain the code via Minzhengtong, WeChat and Alipay platforms, and handle various relevant medical insurance business nationwide.

Lin Jie, deputy chief of the Technical Support and Radio Management Section of the Administrative Service Center in Pingtan, said that the medical insurance electronic code is issued by the National Medical Insurance Information Platform, using encryption algorithms. The security of data encryption and transmission is guaranteed.
