A new music expo hall is expected to be put into use in May, according to Pingtan Tourism Co., Ltd. Pingtan, the closest place on the mainland to the island of Taiwan with a straight-line distance of 68 nautical miles, has been working toward an international tourism island.

The 68 Music Expo Hall will create a cultural complex integrating exhibitions, performances, exchanges, and sales.

“We make the exterior look like a ‘white grand piano.’ Inside, the exhibition area will house vinyl collections of curated Chinese music. In the open air, we will build a stage and plaza for performances and activities said Xu Xiaoqing, head of the engineering department of Pingtan Tourism Co., Ltd.

The hall has introduced a specialized team for operation. Relying on the unique geographical location, cross-Straits exchanges for music and culture will be held like music exhibitions and concerts paying tribute to eminent cross-Straits musicians such as Jonathan Lee, Lo Ta-yu, and Teresa Teng.
