On the evening of April 12, Pingtan, the closest place on the mainland to Taiwan ushered in a magical moment on the island.

As the humid auster set in, millions of bioluminescent plankton washed ashore. The phenomenon was witnessed by 31 million people online!

A plethora of fun-filled activities like a fishermen's market, pop-up container booths, and music fests will be held to welcome the homecoming of the Sea Sparkles this year and enhance the tourists' experience.

The fair would be on a plot of vacant land next to Tanshui Village.

Currently, the project is in its first phase of construction. According to Li Jianren, project coordinator, they have just entered into land leveling and the construction of celeb shops.

Recently, "Sea Sparkles" has appeared in several spots across the island, like Changjiang'ao Bay, Mojing village, and Longwangtou beaches, which drew a pack of frantic tourists to the island.

To improve tourists' experience, a Sea Sparkles tracking and sharing app was launched to give visitors real-time updates at some of Pingtan's Sea Sparkle sightings hotspots. Pingtan will build facilities and chalets at Changjiang'ao Bay and develop a spectrum of cultural other night-time economy packages.
