Pingtan held the island's first TCM Remedy Experience Cultural Fair for Pingtan Rice Paste (Mi Hu) on June 4, 2022. 23 local traditional health remedies, including Pingtan Rice Paste, were promoted and showcased at the fair. Each represents an intangible heritage of the coastal city.

At the fair, visitors can check out old-school medical equipment and instrument used by medical practitioners for hundreds of years like traditional medicine cases, 16-star copper scales, pestle & mortar, etc. Ms. Jiang, the person in charge of Jiang's Traditional Chinese Medicine Museum, came all the way from Minqing to participate in the event and said that she wanted to demonstrate traditional Chinese medicine and therapy through the event and make more people fall for traditional Chinese medicine and its culture.

Pingtan Rice Paste or Mihu is a staple and well-loved health supplement that locals swore by for decades. As a breakfast item to start the day, this medicinal paste consists of various healthy ingredients that alleviate common ailments caused by the island's humid weather and strong winds. In January 2022, Pingtan Rice Paste was listed as a provincial intangible cultural heritage.

Fujian Yangfangtang Biotechnology Co., Ltd. is committed to the preservation, R&D development, and clinical application of Pingtan rice paste medicine. "The purpose of this fair is to allow more young people to experience excellent local culture and help our future generation inherit and innovate their cultural heritage," said Zheng Yunshou, the inheritor of Pingtan rice paste and general manager of Fujian Yangfangtang Biotechnology Co., Ltd.

As one of the inheritors of Pingtan Rice Paste, Chen Guoqiang, president of Pingtan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, said rice paste is the culmination of holistic healthcare attained through generations of wisdom by its people. Chen also added that TCM has long advocated general health through a healthy spleen and stomach, attainable through a healthy diet.
