Cultural and Natural Heritage Day marked in Pingtan

The event opened in style with the presence of Pingtan's 17 protected intangible cultural heritage, including Ciming Opera, Pingtan Min Opera, Pingtan Shell Carving, Pingtan Sand Painting, Pingtan-Taiwan Traditional Lantern, and Pingtan Rice Paste. Each unit brought its best-celebrated works to the fair.
Jiang Xinzhong, an inheritor of Fujian provincial intangible cultural heritage – Pingtan Shell Carving, said: “I am showing off my best works as well as the essence of the craftsmanship in the hope of carrying it forward.”
In recent years, Pingtan has been exploring new ways of creative transformation and innovative development of intangible cultural heritage, combining with cultural creatives, study tours, and industrial development to inject vitality and promote socioeconomic progress.
On top of performances and DIY production of the intangible cultural heritage, and the promotion of Pingtan’s intangible cultural heritage tourism routes, an array of internet influencers also launched live streaming, allowing netizens to watch intangible cultural heritage online and raising the profile of the event.
The event also awarded 13 licenses for the sixth batch of district-level intangible cultural heritage items and protection units.
