Cross-border e-commerce transaction soars during mid-year shopping festival in Pingtan

Pingtan is the closest place on the mainland to the island of Taiwan andhas been designated as part of China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone.
Among them, 3.3 million orders worth 350 million yuan are cross-border e-commerce imports, up 40% from the previous year. “It mainly covers imported products such as cosmetics, snacks, formula milk powder, and maternal and infant supplies. As the summer arrives, sunscreen sprays are sought after in the market.Merchants had previously stocked up 4 containers in the bonded warehouse,” said Zhang Shufu, deputy director of the Commerce and Logistics Department of the Economic Development Bureau of Pingtan.
Pingtan has been making great strides since its inauguration as a pilot city for bonded import of cross-border e-commerce in 2015. The data shows that in the past three years, the cross-border e-commerce import and export volume of Pingtan has increased by 152.3% annually. In 2021, the imported bonded business of cross-border e-commerce ranked first in the province and the cross-border direct purchase export business to Taiwan topped the mainland. The transactions and customs clearance efficiency came out number one for three consecutive years during Double Eleven - China’s largest shopping spree.
