2022 E-commerce Livestreamer Contest finals held on July 3 in Shishi city, E China’s Fujian province

A showdown between a host of talents in a virtual marketplace showcasing a torrent of overseas and Chinese goods unfolded at the 2022 E-commerce Livestreamer Contest finals on July 3 in Shishi city, E China's Fujian province. 10 finalists flexed their "muscles" to win the title of 2022's Top Livestreamer in the live contest. The contest was co-hosted by Hunan Satellite TV, Phoenix Satellite TV, Fujian Media Group, and Pingtan CMC. Representing Pingtan is Qiu Qingling, a long-time resident and Taiwan compatriot.

Pingtan is also the closest place on the mainland to the island of Taiwan that has been designated as a pilot zone to facilitate cross-Straits integration.

This competition is guided by the Department of Electronic Commerce and Information Technology of the Ministry of Commerce and co-sponsored by the Fujian Provincial Department of Commerce, the Fujian Provincial Internet Information Office, the Fujian Provincial Radio and Television Bureau, and the Fujian Media Group.

Given the advantage of geographical proximity to Taiwan, the organizers opened up the "Pingtan division," opening competition entry to cross-Straits talents and targeting Taiwan streamers to join the industry. Approximately a thousand streamers from Taiwan signed up for the contest.

There are 8 competition areas across the country including Hong Kong, Hubei, Hebei, and Guangdong, attracting close to 5,000 livestreamers.

The contest has achieved transactions totaling 2 billion yuan. The livestreamed finals have received an audience of over 6.63 million, with 1.32 million likes on Douyin, TikTok’s sister app.
