Express service from mainland to Taiwan launched in Pingtan
en.ptnet.cn | Updated:2022-07-18 | Lin Kongbo, StephanieA special express service from the mainland to Taiwan has been launched recently on Dalutone, a Pingtan-based mobile app dedicated to providing compatriots from Taiwan with convenience on the mainland. Pingtan is the closest place on the mainland to the island of Taiwan and the only pilot zone on the mainland designated to facilitate cross-Straits integration.
Quite a few Taiwan youngsters running a business on the mainland are impressed after trying the service.
“The courier came to pick up the package less than one hour after calling the service. If the package is shipped, my family in Taiwan can receive it within a week. By air, it will be even faster. It cost only 56.78 yuan for the package weighing six kilograms or so. Convenient and cost-effective!” said Cao Weihua who ran a beverage shop in Fuzhou, the capital city of Fujian province and mailed some clothes and daily necessities to his family in Taiwan.
According to Liu Xiangdong, chairman of Fujian Xintongtu Information Technology Co., Ltd., operator of the "Dalutone," the express service can receive orders in real time at more than 38,400 stations on the mainland, realizing door-to-door collection within one hour. It also provides customs clearance and delivery.
Imports of Taiwan’s agricultural and fishery products and cross-border e-commerce exports to Taiwan in Pingtan account for over 50% of the mainland’s total. Since being approved as a pilot city for bonded import of cross-border e-commerce, Pingtan has made strides in developing the cross-border e-commerce industry. In the past three years, the import and export volume of cross-border e-commerce has increased by 152.3% annually. In 2021, the exports to Taiwan in cross-border direct purchase mode topped the mainland.
“Over the years, Pingtan has been taking advantage of being proximity to Taiwan to build a “golden” logistics channel to Taiwan. It has taken the lead in achieving full coverage of direct passenger and cargo shipping routes with major ports in northern, central, and southern Taiwan.
