“I’ll work hard to become a professional baseball player.” On July 25, the 2022 Fujian-Taiwan Junior Baseball Invitational wrapped up in Pingtan, the closest place on the mainland to the island of Taiwan. Gao Shengjie, a team member of Pingtan Chengguan Primary School, said after winning the honor of outstanding batter in the U10 group. 

The competition is categorized into two groups: U10 and U12, as well as Home Run Challenge. 10 teams from both sides of the Taiwan Straits joined in the two-day game. Pingtan Chengguan Primary School dominated the U10 group, while Liancheng County Experimental Primary School took the crown in the U12 group.

“Youths from across the Straits leverage baseball to interact and make friends, which enhances the spiritual connectivity across the Straits,” said Ren Zhiyun, executive vice president of the Fujian Baseball and Softball Association.
