Touch, scan, and pay! Now, you can experience speed and convenience on the go with digital RMB in Pingtan! Even without internet access. Pingtan is the closest place on the mainland to the island of Taiwan.

Digital RMB Experience Village inaugurated in Beigang Village

In Beigang, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Pingtan, an inauguration ceremony rolled out on July 27 to celebrate its newfound status as a digital yuan experience village. Now, digital RMB can be used in restaurants, homestay hostels, convenience stores, and parking lots in Beigang. Tourists can also enjoy coupons issued by banks.

At a grocery store in Beigang, the reporter experienced the service. Open the “Digital RMB” app, top up, scan the QR code of digital RMB wallet presented by the merchant, and payment completed!

“The mobile phone can function as a bank card as well. Touch the payment terminal and enter the password to finish the payment,” said Lin Xing, a bank clerk from Pingtan branch of China Construction Bank.

Pingtan has been designated among the third batch of areas piloting digital RMB. Pingtan is also the mainland's only comprehensive pilot zone for cross-Straits integration. Pingtan branch of the China Construction Bank initiated the service of converting the New Taiwan dollar into digital RMB.
