Pingtan’s foreign trade exceeds 10 billion yuan mark

Among them, exports stood at 5.57 billion yuan, up 31.2% year on year, according to Pingtan Customs. Pingtan is the closest place on the mainland to the island of Taiwan.
“To sum up, Pingtan’s foreign trade features as follows: first, the general trade imports and exports exceed 90% of the total; second, private enterprises are the pillar of foreign trade; third, Taiwan is the largest trading partner of Pingtan; fourth, the export of labor-intensive products and agricultural products has increased,” said a customs official from Pingtan Customs.
Specifically, the aggregated imports and exports in the mode of general trade were 9.96 billion yuan, an increase of 13.8% from a year earlier, accounting for 97.4% of the total in the first half of the year. The imports and exports of private enterprises reached 9.89 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 26.6% compared with a year earlier, taking up 96.7% of the total; the imports and exports to Taiwan added up to 4 billion yuan, surging 35.9% from the previous year, accounting for 39.1% of Pingtan's total.
