First broadcast on China Central Television in 1990, Zhengda Variety Show, a tourism program featuring travel videos, interviews, and quizzes.

Zhengda Variety Show again made waves on August 21, bringing the audience to the small town of Junshan in Pingtan, a rising international tourism island off southeast China's Fujian province.

Located in the northeast of Pingtan, Junshan Town is named after Mount Jun, the highest peak on the island. Recently, the town was named a "national rural tourism town." The episode brings the audience on an exotic island excursion- sampling gourmet seafood, marveling at wondrous scenery, and reveling in rich island culture.

In the program, the hostess raised several interesting questions for the guests in the studio. One, in particular, was about Yaozitong. Yaozitong is a traditional mode of transport for local fisherfolks. Unlike regular boats, these small and flexible vessels are assembled without a single nail!

Ms. Wu, a tourist who happened to be in Pingtan when the show was aired, said the program had piqued her interest in the island's fishing culture. "I'll just follow the itinerary in the show and have a blast for this trip!"
