Island princess wins Spanish championship

The Chinese kitefoil team competed for the first time in the Formula Kite Spain 2022 Series (FKSS) on September 2, 3, and 4, Spanish local time. Beloved local kitesurfing princess of Pingtan, an island off E China’s Fujian province did it again and won the women’s championship.

Chen Jingyue has been training for the 2024 Paris Olympics with other members of the Chinese national sailing and windsurfing teams at Marseille, France. It is the first competition she participated in after training, where she was crowned her first European championship.

Chen began kitesurfing journey in July 2012. Since then, she has participated in many national, Asian, and world competitions and won innumerable awards. She was honored as an “International Athlete,” becoming the first Chinese kitesurfer to win the title.

Chen's passion for the sport has brought her to many amazing places. Yet, for this Pingtan girl, there is only one place she always holds dear. "Each place has its own charms, but my heart is with the sea of Pingtan."
