Pingtan, the closest place on the mainland to the island of Taiwan, is overwhelmed with incoming demand for its island accommodation as China's National Day golden week holiday approaches.

"Currently, rooms are fully-booked on the first three days of the National Day holiday, especially the seaview rooms," said Liao Hongqing, manager of Yunshang Seaview B&B in Beigang Village of Pingtan.

Many hotels will also provide tourists with customized services and tour kits such as trail maps and beach-combing tools to enhance tourists' experience.

New tourist packages for family and RV enthusiasts have been rolled out.

In Qingfeng Village, the rooms of a school building-turned-B&B are now fully booked. Rooms named after the class number bring people back to school days. Tourists with children prefer rooms for families.

In addition, the campground along the Around-the-Island Road that’s dubbed one of the most gorgeous drives in the country becomes a new favorite for holiday-makers.
